Dr. Fatima Azi-Waziri

Director General, National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP)

Dr. Fatima Waziri-Azi, is an Associate Professor of Law, Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies; Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (United Kingdom), Notary Public for Nigeria; a distinguished academic, a published author, legal practitioner, and human rights activist. 

Prior to her appointment as Director-General, she was the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Rule of Law, Office of the Vice President. She got her first degree in law from the prestigious Faculty of Law, Ahmadu Bello University Zaria in 2001; Barrister-at-Law Degree from the Nigerian Law School Lagos; Masters of Law Degree in International Law and Human Rights, from St Thomas University School of Law, Miami–Florida, USA; a Doctor in Juridical Science Degree (PhD in Law) from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, Pittsburgh–Pennsylvania State, USA; and a Certificate in Public Leadership from the Harvard Kennedy School Executive Education Program, Boston-Massachusetts, USA.

She has acquired several certifications. These include a Bachelors of Law, Masters in Law and Doctorate in Law. In addition, She is an alumnus of Havard, University of Pittsburgh and many other world-class institutions.

Furthermore, she is an Associate Member, Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, UK (ACIrb); Member, Nigerian Bar Association (NBA); Member, New York County Lawyers Association (NYCLA); Member, Association of Women in Development (AWID); Member, Women in International Security (WIIS).

Dr. Fatima was a former Head of Department of public law at the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies.
