It's 2023

Dear Wig.ng,

Happy New Year and welcome to the year 2023!! I really cannot believe it is 2023 already.

We took a hiatus last year to rework our brand to be well-positioned to serve the Wig.ng community better. In all honesty, I also needed a break! Starting this non-profit, I did not envisage the amount of time, resources (human and material) as well as planning that would be required to create success out of this venture. I had a couple of major changes in my life, particularly moving to a new country and could no longer devote my time to something I really wanted to build and expand…and painfully decided to take a break and be human.

Indeed, 2022 was a most difficult year for so many people: family, career, finances, health, marriages, friendships and a lot more did not align with our hopes when the year began. Our mental, emotional and spiritual health were tested beyond our usual strength….but guess what,  we survived and for that, we are stronger and wiser, and this journey stretched our capacity beyond the usual. 

And so, if there is anything I want our community to remember in 2023, it is that we have to grind, not in silos, but by seeking support from a great community of women in our personal and professional lives. We can do the work together because in the process we grow and in the end, we will all win…
