Our Story

Women in Government (WIG.ng) is an initiative birthed by the Nwatam Women Empowerment Foundation, a non-governmental organisation founded in 2021 by a woman serving in government, to provide a forum aimed at empowering women who are serving in Civil and Public Service. It is a platform where we converge to learn, discuss, share, and be mentored, with a view to improving capacity and ensuring that we reach our fullest potential, and explore various avenues that would put women in government in Nigeria, on the global map.

The overarching objective of WIG.ng is to assist women serving in Civil and Public Service:

Meet The Founder

Ms. Nwatamasaya Tina Papka

Ms. Nwatamasaya Tina Papka is a lawyer and a Nigerian diplomat with over ten years of experience at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nigeria. With a wealth of experience in policy formulation, consular relations, protocol and multilateral relations, Ms. Papka is a humanitarian expert, passionately committed to seeking global solutions to issues relating to Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons in Nigeria.

Ms. Papka holds a Masters in International Law with International Relations (L.L.M) from the University of Kent in Canterbury, and a degree in Public and International Law (L.L.B.) from the University of Abuja in Nigeria. She also attended the Nigerian Law School in Lagos and has also completed a number of capacity development and professional training in various areas such as humanitarian diplomacy, multilateral diplomacy, and conflict analysis. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, travelling, gardening, and exercising. Ms. Papka is a strong advocate for education as well as the inclusion and advancement of women in all spaces.
