WIG NG Letters

Just Begin!

Welcome Dear WIG.ng!!!

I cannot believe it is July already! Exactly one month after the formal launch of WIG.ng. I must acknowledge that that support and love we have received so far has been overly encouraging. Who would have thought that the little idea I had in 2018 would proffer a solution and fill a vacuum I did not even realise was that wide.

I started this NGO afraid, afraid that it may fail, afraid that people will know who I am and my life will no longer be as private as I would like it to be. But along the way I realised that all my “I” reasons didn’t matter as this was way beyond my personal reservations. Just like me, a lot of women here have dreams, dreams that you let simmer and die because like me, you are afraid. Lets really ask ourselves; What we will do if we weren’t afraid? What is the worse that will happen if we venture out? What if we succeed?

I have come to believe that no one knows it all, no one has it all and no one ever will. That is why we have to try, put our best foot forward and go on this wild and interesting journey, one that you never know where it will lead. You will meet the right people, at the right time with the right words, sometimes people you have just met. And perhaps you don’t, then lean on your faith, yourself and your small unbreakable circle and you will realise you could do more all along.

I have received support, random calls etc. from avenues I least expected and that is what happens when you take the leap to venture out. You discover that all the while, the stars had been aligned in your favour. You no longer have the right to be or make your self look small.

Since the commencement of WIG.ng, especially around our pilot event, women within and outside government have reached out inquiring whether their friends and family, who are outside the WIG.ng circle are free to participate in our programmes. While our target niche is specifically to women who are working in the civil and public service space, we believe that placing a restriction and emphasis on excluding willing participant is not ideal. After all, our resources will be free.

I cannot wait for you to share your success story.
