Women have always needed a voice, not because theirs’ is not loud enough, but because collectively, it echos louder and has an undeniable effect. Melinda has always believed that in order to lift a society, investing in women is pertinent.
In this insightful book, she highlights various flexible methods of proffering solutions to a wide range of issues that affect women, without the need to hold on to unreasonable or unrealistic systems and processes in seeking to address certain challenges. I love the fact that there are so many examples to buttress various points made.
It is evident that the Foundation’s work is truly personal to Melinda as you can deeply feel her humane emotions and connectedness, slathered on numerous pages in this book. She emphasises the importance of having true partnerships, where both individuals consider each other's work as vital and important as the others, enough to support and give each other the space to thrive.
While a large number of people may not agree with some of her ideas and beliefs, it is always best to take what you can learn from various individuals, and leave those that conflict with your ideology. Regardless, this is a very good read for practical female empowerment.
